Nushi and Elites
Beast of Reincarnation Bosses and Elites
The story's greatest challenges are the Nushi, powerful malefact bosses that spread the blight in each zone. Regular malefacts and golems can also appear as Elite varieties, which are much tougher than ordinary enemies. Boss lists below are based on Rock Paper Shotgun's location guide and Eurogamer's walkthrough, both accessed August 6, 2026.
Chapter 1: Ogouchi Buffer Zone
The opening zone has 3 main-story boss fights and 8 Elites to track down. Main bosses:

Notable Elites include three Heavy Golems (levels 6, 8, and 9), Agile Golem (level 7) guarding Subcity 01, and Grizzly Malefact (level 10) guarding the Yellow Key. Rock Paper Shotgun marks exact map spots for all 8.
Chapter 2: Ancient Civilization Zone
Chapter 2 has one main boss, the Lacerta Nushi, fought twice. Main bosses:

Chapter 3 is unusual: you face the Nue Malefact four times, ending in a double fight. Main bosses:

Seven Elites populate the zone, including Agile Golems (12), Headless Golems (15, 16, 18), Keymaster Golem (17), and Lupine Malefacts (18, 19).

Rock Paper Shotgun's location guide was still being updated at the time of access: Chapters 4-12 were listed but marked "We'll add more shortly." Eurogamer's walkthrough confirms the game is divided into chapters, each with its own region, and lists bosses by level:
