Skill Trees
Beast of Reincarnation Best Skills
Emma and Koo each have a skill tree with three roots, plus Nushi Skills that unlock Blade Arts and Bloom Arts. Attribute points in Strength, Vigor, and Fluorescence unlock branches, while skill points buy the nodes. This page summarizes the best early picks from Eurogamer and IGN, accessed August 6, 2026.
Best Skills for Emma
| Root | Recommended Early Skills | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Entanglement Overdrive | Expand Entanglement Gauge, Entanglement Gauge Recovery, Extend Blade Effects, Critical Boost | More gauge means more Blade Arts and longer time-slow windows; Eurogamer's top recommendation |
| Tracking Shot | Entangled Follow Up, Attack Dog, Lucky Shot, Roll | Gauge recovery from Koo follow-ups, a dodge roll, and later ranged and assassination bonuses |
| Hair | Sprout Shakuyaku, Helm Splitter, Cloaking Grass | Hair attacks, an AoE dive attack, and stealth for sneaking builds |
Personal favorites mentioned by Eurogamer include Kiku (Physical damage) and Dokuzeri (Poison damage over time), which pair well with Koo's Higanbana flame skills.
Best Skills for Koo
| Root | Recommended Skills | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Incantation | Mod: Status Effect Amp, Mod: Last Stand, Mod: Full Bloom Crit | Boosts status buildup; Full Bloom Crit makes all hits critical while FP is full |
| Guard | Mod: Resonance, Mod: Battleborn, Mod: Healing Energy | Gauge restoration, weapon-effect activation for Emma, and status cleansing |
| Pounce | Taunt, Healing Bouquet, Healing Garden, Snatch | Aggro, healing, and better item discovery |
Eurogamer recommends Incantation first, then Pounce, with early points saved for Battleborn and Healing Energy. Late-game Pounce skills such as Internal Respiration and Photosynthesis restore Koo's HP and FP but cost a lot.
Nushi Skills: Blade Arts and Bloom Arts
Nushi Skills appear at the top of each tree and unlock new combat techniques and elements. For Emma these are Blade Arts; for Koo they are Bloom Arts. Eurogamer recommends unlocking new Nushi Skills whenever they become available so you can apply weaknesses and status effects to bosses.
- Emma's first Blade Art, Shakuyaku, deals Physical damage and can be upgraded for range and speed.
- Later Emma branches add Lightning (Sakura) and Poison (Dokuzeri) damage.
- Koo's first Bloom Art branch, Higanbana, deals Flame damage.
- Koo's Bloom Arts all target different elemental weaknesses, so swapping them per boss is expected.
Attribute and Respec Notes
- Both Emma and Koo earn attribute points at the same rate.
- Strength, Vigor, and Fluorescence govern attack, health and mobility, and special skills respectively.
- Available skills are gated by attribute points, so check the skill screen before leveling.
- After meeting Mikoto in Chapter 2, you can respec Emma and Koo from the Cleanse Walker's communicator for a cost of Amber.
